1) I do use facebook but not near as much as I did when I was a freshman. It was a great tool to meet new people in class and kind of break the ice to start conversations. Sometimes it is helpful to get contact information from people in class if you have questions about projects or assignments. I rarely get on it now but when I do its to see upcoming events and to keep in touch with friends that have moved away.
2)Besides making money off of marketing ads, social networks can generate revenue through banner ads, premium subscriptions or licensing agreements. This is something that not many social networks have mastered yet.
3)Social networking sites like facebook give you the opportunity to keep up with your long lost friends or family members that you never get to see, but these sites can also be easy access to personal information to people that really know how to use the site against you.
